Border Crossings

Crossing borders and obtaining visas can be a confusing and intimidating process, especially for first-timers. One of the major benefits of travelling with Giant Ibis is we take the hassle out of the process, making it as smooth as possible.

Of course, no crossing comes without its complexities, however, passengers can rest assured that our crew attendants are working behind the scenes while guests relax on board to ensure as few issues as possible are met upon arrival at the border.

  • The process

When the bus reaches the border, passengers are required to disembark and follow the crew attendant to immigration. Giant Ibis ticket fees include a VIP service, which ensures passengers pass through immigration as swiftly as possible. This is dependent on the volume of people crossing the border and whether passengers have filled out forms correctly and provided the right information. Passengers who have obtained a Vietnam e-visa will be required to pay an additional US$2 and can then enjoy lunch or relax. Alternatively, they can go with the crew attendant to make the transaction themselves

  • At the border

Passengers must first pass through Cambodian immigration to exit the country. They will then take a short walk, with the guidance of the crew attendant, to Vietnamese customs to officially enter the country. Passengers will be asked to take their luggage off from the bus to be screened by customs officers of Vietnam only.

  • Why Giant Ibis

Our expertise and the relationships built up between our attendants and customs official means the process is made as easy as possible. The additional fee has caused a lot of confusion from customers querying the US$2 charge. We want to reassure passengers that this is not a scam.
